Sean’s movie thoughts

I liked American Underdog. I might not watch it again but I liked it. I thought Zackary Levi was good in the role of Kurt Warner. I thought Anna Pacquin was good as Brenda Warner.  Some things from the real life story are changed or left out. It is a movie, not a mini-series. I wonder why his time in NFL Europe was left out? Maybe it was cut for time. Or maybe it is more dramatic to go from the arena league to the NFL than to go from the arena league to NFL Europe and then to the NFL. Mike Martz ,the offensive coordinator of the Rams, kind seems like a villain at times. I guess every underdog movie needs some character not to believe in the hero.  I wonder if Mike Martz saw this film.

The Monster Squad is a good movie. It was not a hit when it came out. It later found an audience on cable. This is about a group of boys who encounter monsters (who resemble the classic Universal monsters). I think it was a shame that the actor who played Dracula did not play the role again. The actor who plays Frankenstein’s monster was good. The younger cast was good too.  There are some jokes that work well. I liked the montage of the crew preparing/creating weapons. I thought the movie held up on re-watch. This is a short movie. I like the occasional short movie. Maybe there are a few plot points that were hurt by edits.  Is this a classic? Maybe not.
