No Time to Die is good

No Time to Die is good. This is Daniel Craig’s last time as James Bond. (This time it really is.) It is nice to see his supporting cast Q,Moneypenny, and M, one more time. Jeffrey Wright returns as Felix Leiter, a CIA agent, and it was nice to see him again too. Ana De Armas has a supporting role as a younger agent. She was fun. James Bond is pulled out of retirement. There is a new threat, something that M had ordered created but it is now in the wrong hands. Is a new idea for the series? There is a history of British agents going rogue but this is different. There is a new 007, a woman. She is played by Lashana Lynch. (007 is a code name, so if James is retired, someone else can take it up.) James eventually takes his code name back.  I don’t think Lashana Lynch will return as this character. (Lynch will probably be in some other good things.) I liked this but it is a little long and this is the second time that Craig’s Bond has come out of retirement. With 2 retirements in...

Tom Hardy Might be the Next James Bond and other thoughts

Tom Hardy is going to be the new James Bond according to some sources. It is still somewhat unofficial. Good for him. Hardy will be good. I guess Daniel Craig is really done (which is okay). I was not worried about who would be the next James Bond because I have liked all the James Bonds but George Lazenby, so I figured the producers would find someone good. I am tempted to watch some bad romantic comedies to see if they are as bad as their reputations suggest.  I was thinking of the Ugly Truth and How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days, both have bad reputations. The Ugly Truth has been called the worst romantic comedy ever. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of the romantic comedies that started critics wondering if they overrated Matthew McConaughey. If I do watch these films, I will say if they live down to their reputations. I could add Failure to Launch to this watching but maybe it might be best to go slowly.

No Time to Die has been pushed back and other movie thoughts

No Time to Die has been pushed back to November. The explanation for the move seemed vague. I guess there will be more months of speculation on who’s replacing Daniel Craig as Bond. He is supposed to leave, really this time, but the franchise will go on. Jumanji the Next Level held up on re-watch. Some films don’t.  I feel like the film makers have done everything they can with this concept and there is nowhere left to go. I could be wrong but it really seems like everything worth exploring about the concept has been explored. The young cast does not have enough time together but I guess that is a byproduct of the concept. Suerman Red Son was a good animated Superman movie. It was not great but it is worth watching and I think it will hold on re-watching. This does not tie in with a lot of the other DC animated movies, so it could be a good starting point for someone. Superman lands in Russia and is raised there. I think Star Trek is dead on the big screen for now.
