There is a new American Pie movie coming (updated)

There is another American Pie Presents movie coming out. (Yes, really. I just found out.) This series won’t end. I think this will be a sequel in name only unless the movie centers on another member of the Stifler clan. Oddly up to this point there are no early college age women in this family tree. Stifler men marry and then father only sons for some reason. (Or maybe all the Stifler daughters are so embarrassed by their male relatives that they change their names or go into hiding.) I am not sure why there is a new American Pie Presents movie. Universal might just be trying to see if there is life in an old franchise. It will be maybe 8 years since the last American Pie movie when this film comes out, so it is a gamble. This might be terrible. The new movie has the subtitle Girls Rule.

Top 10 movies 2019

Avengers Endgame Brittany Runs a Marathon Little Women Doctor Sleep Ford vs Ferrari Jumanji the Next Level Shazam It Chapter Two Ip Man 4 Finale I think that is the list. Maybe if I reconsidered the list in six months after re-watching some of these films, it would be different.

ffolkes is good

Roger Moore stars in this 1980 movie about a specialist named ffolkes dealing with a hijacked oil platform. Moore has a beard and his character hates women. This is not James Bond. This is good. Anthony Perkins is the leader of the hijackers. He is good. I know Perkins will always be best known as Norman Bates but Perkins was good in other films too. James Mason plays a British admiral, which adds a touch of class. I like this. Because of the location of the platform in the North Sea getting it to undetected is difficult. Also the plan on how to kill the hijackers is complicated by an unexpected event, so it was interesting to see the heroes adjust. I think this is worth re-watching.

Maybe Uncut Gems is not for me

I did not hate Uncut Gems and I am not saying it is awful. I just was not invested in the movie. I left after 50 minutes. At one point Adam Sandler’s character is in a bad situation and it occurred to me that I did not care what happened next. It also occurred to me that I did not care how he got in his situation. I am not sure I did not get invested in the film. Famously I did not get invested in Mad Max Fury Road. I walked out of that film too. People I know cannot believe this. Maybe for some reason I was just not up for this film today. Maybe I will re-watch this film someday and love it. That could happen. It is nice to see Sandler in a dramatic role.

The future of Physical Media is uncertain

The future of Blu-rays and DVDs is uncertain. The local Walmart seems to be downsizing their area for shelving DVDs and Blu-rays. Someone I follow on Twitter posted a picture of the Physical Media area of their local Best Buy and commented that it is smaller than it used to be. I have heard for years that sales for Blu-rays has fallen. Samsung announced that they won’t make Blu-ray players. This also applies to 4K Blu-ray players. I think they were one of the three largest makers of Blu-ray players. I wonder how long they will update/support their current players. I had to update my 4K Blu-ray player recently. Streaming is convenient. However not everything is available to stream. Friday the 13th the series, for example, is not available for streaming. (Streaming in this case means a subscription to Netflix or Hulu or Showtime or Amazon Prime Video.) The Warlock series of films and Wishmaster are not available for streaming, at least they were not the last time I checked. Air Force...
