Top 10 movies 2019

Avengers Endgame
Brittany Runs a Marathon
Little Women
Doctor Sleep
Ford vs Ferrari
Jumanji the Next Level
Shazam
It Chapter Two
Ip Man 4 Finale

I think that is the list. Maybe if I reconsidered the list in six months after re-watching some of these films, it would be different.

Why the Mission Impossible series works

I think the Mission Impossible series really works because it is committed and sincere. Tom Cruise is committed to doing as many stunts as possible and that comes acros while watching these movies. He broke an ankle during the making of Fallout while doing a stunt. The makers of the movies seem committed to doing old fashioned and amazing stunts. When I say the films are sincere, I am not saying that they are humorless. However the films are not ironic. Also Marvel movies, as much as I enjoy most of them, have a tendency to undercut the drama with humor. (Thor Ragnorok does it a lot.) The Mission Impossible movies don’t do that.  I have not seen the first Mission Impossible movies in years and I mostly thinking about the last three movies. I remember in at least two of the first three movies the bad guy is a former member of the Mission Impossible team.

I liked Werewolf by Night and other movie thoughts

I liked Werewolf by Night. It was fun and not too long. (Maybe at under an hour, it really might not be a movie.) It looked good in black and white. This feels more a Universal Monsters film than anything Universal has produced in ages.  I feel I should be more interested in Black Adam. Maybe the film will be good but I have a feeling that it might only be average or slightly above average. Reports are that Henry Cavill will have a cameo as Superman. That could be nice. I have almost no interest in Halloween Ends. Right now, I think I will check out some reviews but probably won’t watch the film. I don’t think I ever finished Halloween Kills. Maybe I am losing interest in this franchise.

I saw Deadpool and Wolverine

Maybe I am over Deadpool and the breaking the fourth wall jokes. I did not hate this film and I did finish it. That at least is something. The action was fine. It was nice to see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine again. I liked one of the two major villains.  As I said I feel over the breaking the fourth wall jokes or maybe some of those jokes were not that good this time around. Also the cherry or upbeat song being used for background music during a fight scene might have been done one time too often. I am keeping the plot details vague. I liked one of the two major villains but the other one I did not find interesting at all. Problem is that the villain I liked was the second villain. The second villain did not appear for maybe thirty minutes. I might not watch this again but I am keeping that option open. If this is better than Green Lantern, which I am sure of, it is not that much better. Maybe the Green Lantern film had a few issues but it is not as bad as Reynolds has made it o...
