Valley Girl remake is supposed to come out digitally next week

Jessica Rothe's Valley Girl is supposed to come out next week.  The trailer is not great. It is not terrible though. I own both Happy Death Day movies and her movie Forever My Girl, so it is safe to say I am interested in her movies. (I am not sure why Tiffany Hadish was declared the next big thing a while back instead of Rothe.) I want to see this. Will it be good as the original? Probably not. The original is really good. It might be a classic. If Jessica Rothe and her leading man are good together on screen, that will probably be enough to make the movie worthwhile. I did not see enough of them together in the trailer, so I am nor sure if they will be good together.

Movie thoughts 4-26-2020

I am not sure if I want to see another Marvel Spider-man movie. I like Tom Holland as Spider-man but I think the story in the marvel films has made him a sidekick to Iron Man. The villains in both Spider-man Homecoming and Spider-man Far from Home have problems with/want revenge on Iron Man. Debt Collectors, sequel to the Debt Collector, comes out next month. Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor return from the first film but Tony Todd does not. It looks like it should be fun. I own a digital copy of the Rise of Skywalker but I haven't watched it. At times I think I will but it has been a while since I've bought it and I still haven't. Maybe I won't. At times I feel like I have said all I want to about the sequel trilogy in general or the Rise of Skywalker in particular but sometimes I have the urge to say more. I wonder if that has anything to do with all the blockbusters being pushed back because of the pandemic.

Too many flashbacks is now something I dislike

I used to complain about too much comic relief in movies. Now, I am complaining about too many flashbacks. I am not anti-flashback but I have seen a few films that have too many flashbacks, the most recent one might be Tolkien. Tolkien is not terrible but it has so many flashbacks. The movie would start to get interesting. Then the flashback would end and the movie would be in “the present”. Then I would get interested in the present but then was another flashback. The Social Network had a similar structure. The new Valley Girl, it is supposed to come out to digital video next month, looks like it might have that kind of structure.

One liners April 2020 (updated)

These are quick movie thoughts. Maybe later I will expand some of these into their own blog entries. Thor Ragnarok is not that good I am sure the next James Bond actor will be fine I might give Midway (2019) another chance in a month or so I could be too excited about the Mortal Kombat animated movie It is probably not the time to watch horror movies In 2025 there will (still) be people (men) tweeting “release the Snyder cut” I don’t think stand-up comedy specials count as movies I might eventually watch the new Charlie’s Angels I considered rewatching Hellboy 2019 to see where it went wrong  A bad movie that I did not finish is worse than a bad movie I did finish Maybe there are women tweeting “Release the Snyder cut”
