Mexicali is very good

 Mexicali is really good. Bren Foster stars as an Australian soldier who has retired to Mexico. He retired but he retains his special skills . One day he has to use his special skills after an encounter with a drug lord's son. There is a price to be paid for that.

Foster gets to show off his fighting skills. This is a worthy follow up to Life After Fighting and it might be better. 

Kris Van Damme has a role as a henchmen. It was nice to see him. I don't think his character was supposed to be Mexican but his character's background is not detailed. 

Louis Mandylor appears, briefly, as his character from the Debt Collector series, which is pretty good. (The director of those films wrote this one.) He compares Foster's character to his partner French (played by Scott Adkins). 

Now, a movie pitting Foster vs Adkins needs to be made (someone on Twitter suggested this).

This review is fair. Maybe I like the film more than the reviewer did.

I lost interest in the Girl in the Spider’s Web

I am not saying this is a terrible movie. I just lost interest and I think I had 40 or maybe 50 minutes left to watch. I might try it to watch it again in a month or so. Or I might not. Claire Foy plays Lisabeth Salandar, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in this movie. She is the third actress to take the role and she is good in it. The problems with the film don’t include her. This movie bombed but it doesn’t seem like it hurt Foy’s career. I am not sure why I lost interest. I thought there was a car chase that went on too long. I’ve seen a lot of car chases over the years but it feels like I have not seen a really good one in a while. This feels like it wants to be a female James Bond or female Jason Bourne movie. It is fairly humorless. Except for Foy’s performance, there is not much to recommend this film. I am not recommending this movie. There might not be a Star Trek 4

The fourth film of the rebooted Star Trek series is not  on Paramount’s schedule. The director has left the project. That is disappointing. I would like to see that cast back together.  Overall, I liked the rebooted Star Trek movies Okay maybe the second movie is pretty much a remake of Wrath of Khan. There were a few moments in the second movie that were felt odd. I thought the third movie was a bit better. I thought the third movie did a better job of using the bridge crew.  Would it be nice to have more movies with this cast (Chris Pine, Karl Urban, John Cho, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, and Zachary Quinto)? I think it would have been. It is possible that what is left of this cast is not returning for a fourth film.

Batman and Robin might be as bad as its reputation

Batman and Robin is a bad movie. (The original four Batman movies came out again on physical media to celebrate an anniversary. Some madness took over me and I watched this one.)Sometimes I watch a movie I have not seen in a while or a movie with a bad reputation, and it turns out the movie is better than I remembered or it is not as bad as its reputation. This is not one of those times. This film is bad. Maybe the writers and director were going for a campy feel like the old TV show. It did not work. Set design is the only thing in the movie that works. Even that is overdone at times. George Clooney has talent but he was not a good Batman. I am not sure if it was just the script or the direction but something seems off. He never played another superhero after this film. Chris O’Donnell did not fare much better.
