Showdown re-watched

Billy Blanks stars as a cop named Billy who leaves the department after a tragic accident. Years later he is a school janitor. The new kid in town, Ken, runs afoul of a bully. Billy trains Ken to defend himself. There is also an illegal fight ring happening. (The bully is involved in that.)

This is not a great movie but I always kind of liked it. I have not seen it in a few years but it held up. (There is a new Blu-Ray of the movie.) It does seem a bit similar to the Karate Kid. (Okay it is very similar to the Karate Kid.)

The positives
  • The training scenes are fun
  • The fights are pretty good
  • Patrick Kilpatrick makes a good villain
  • Blanks makes a good mentor
I think this review is fair.
