Code 3 was decent and other movie thoughts

Rainn Wilson stars as a burned out EMT in this comedy, Code 3.  I liked it.  I am not a fan of the Office, the British or American version, so I might not have seen Wilson in a lot of movies or TV shows.  Maybe I was just in the mood for a comedy but  it might be worth re-watching.

Avatar Three is coming out this year.  I think I saw the original Avatar and did not care for it.  Maybe I should give it another try and if I like it, maybe I could watch the first sequel. 

I think I will re-watch my DVD of the Night Strangler this month.  It has been a while since I saw it.  I remember liking it. 

Also I probably should re-watch I Ain't Scared of You, a Tribute to Bernie Mac this month.  The title fits in with the season, thematically at least.  Also I should probably watch his baseball themed comedy Mr. 3000 again. Maybe I will give it another chance.

I tried another comedy and lost interest. After 40 something minutes I did not care to see how the move ended.

Wanted Man was good

 I finally watched Wanted Man. I think I bought last year. Why I did not watch it before now is something I don’t know. This is a Dolph Lundgren movie about a cop who goes to Mexico to bring back some witnesses. The cop had been caught on video calling a suspect a Mexican lowlife. I think the idea was to get the cop out of town for a few days, let things blow over. Things go wrong and the cop and a surviving witness have get to America. For a while the cop and the witness hide out with her family. There are some nice moments during this time It was good. It is not action packed. There are some action scenes. I like Lundgren as a star and I am not the harshest critic of his movies. He might have directed this one.  Kelsey Grammar was in the film. It has been a while since I have seen him in anything other than Fraiser except for a brief cameo. Yeah, he is one of the villains. This is a direct to video action movie. Don't expect Mission Impossible level stunts.

Who’s Harry Crumb is not John Candy’s best film but I liked it

Who’s Harry Crumb stared John Candy as an inept private detective investigating a kidnapping. Of course Harry thinks he is a great detective. (That is the source of the comedy.) His father and grandfather were great detectives. He is assisted by the kidnapped girl’s sister Nicki (Shawnee Smith). They have a good chemistry. I liked John Candy but this is a trifle. I probably should not have bought it but I did. (At least it was reasonably priced.) There was a brief bit where Harry disguises himself as an Indian American (not Native American). I don’t think it was really mean-spirited but it would not go over well today. I guess this might be considered Candy’s attempt to create an inspector Clouseau type character.

Trouble Man is good

 Michael Jai White stars and directs this low budget action movie.  It is good. Maybe Diablo is better but I really liked Diablo.  He plays a private eye (Jaxen) who is looking for a singer. The record executive (Orlando Jones) who hired him might not be telling everything. Method Man co-stars. He was fun.  I think I have seen him in other movies and TV shows. At the same time as the investigation, Jaxon is reconnecting with an old flame Gina. (Or maybe he wishes Gina was an old flame.) Gina is played by Michael Jai White's real life wife Gillian, which is a nice touch. It was nice to see Orlando Jones again. I thought the fight scenes were good. It did not have too much humor and I liked Method Man's character.  I might like to see White and Method Man re-team. I might watch it again.
