Sean’s movie thoughts

 I think this movie might be average. There are some nice elements but movie is a bit long. This movie could have been maybe 10 to 15 minutes shorter. Maybe using two villains might have not worked. It is nice to see Chris Pine again as Steve Trevor. He and Gal Gadot have a nice chemistry. It was a nice to see their roles reversed to a degree, with him as a man out of time and Diana explaining the world to him. Gal Gadot remains very good as Diana/Wonder Woman.  I also thought Kristen Wiig was surprisingly good as Barbara Minerva. She should do some more noncomedic roles. I thought Pedro Pascal was fine as Maxwell Lord and he did not seem that similar to Donald Trump to me. I know that was something some critics mentioned.   This one was good at times but a little too long and sometimes it seemed like maybe the movie would have played better with only one villain.  Maybe limiting the film to one villain would have improved a  of storyline. I haven't seen this any of the Lord of the Rings films in years. I have the new 4k box set. I re-watched the Fellowship of the Ring last weekend. It is really good. Maybe the disappointment of the Hobbit trilogy made me forget (a little) how good the Lord of the Rings trilogy is. (This concludes the bashing of the Hobbit trilogy in this review.) I did not watch the extended edition. I guess I could have but I liked the original version a lot. I don't feel like I am missing much with that version. Maybe when I re-watch the Two Towers, I will watch the extended version.  I might not have a 4k TV, so I might be missing some of the impact of the 4k discs. However it is nice to have the discs and it was nice to have both the theatrical and extended versions of the trilogy included. Th film still looked good.  The cast does a good job and I like the movie's epic feel.  The Next Karate Kid was decent. I might watch it again. I think I have never seen it before I watched it on Netflix last month.  I should have my top ten list of movies 2020 at the end of the year. I am waiting to see a few more movies before I make my choices. It will be odd not to have a Marvel movie on the list. This year’s list might also be fairly light on sequels. I think I might have some odd thing where I  don’t get Charlize Theron. A lot of critics loves the Old Guard her action movie but I did not finish it and I don’t think I will give it another chance. I also didn’t finish Mad Max Fury Road. I haven’t seen her romantic comedy with Seth Rogan but that is as much about me being burned out on Seth Rogan.
