Sean’s movie thoughts

Okay, that subtitle makes no sense. Sasha Mitchell returns as David Sloan (from part II). He is no Van Damme but he is not the worst action hero I’ve seen. He seems to be playing his Step by Step character in this one. Brazil doesn’t come across well here. Sloan is in Brazil for a fight but he gets involved with a couple of teenagers and when the girl is kidnapped, he tries to find her. There are a few decent fight scenes but even I might not want to revisit this movie. The villains are not special.  In hindsight, I was feeling generous when I saw this one. I might try either part II or part IV in the next few weeks to see if either one is better.

 I do not quite get the Fast and Furrious movies. F9 is out, I liked it well enough. It was nice to see Vin Diesel and John Cena punch each other. (His star seems to be on the rise. Dave Bautista is still better.) The plot makes no sense, I won’t try to explain it, and after 8 films Dom suddenly has a brother (this never came up in the previous films somehow).  Charlize Theron returns as villain Cipher and Helen Mirren has a cameo. I would say that it is a pointless cameo but it was kind of fun. (How her character knows Dom is not explained.) Han is back, maybe that would been had nicer if it was not revealed in the trailer/marketing, and he has an adopted daughter.  I like the fights more than the car stunts.

 He’s All That was not terrible. The lead actress, Addison Rae, is a Tick Tock star, and she is not ready to be the star of a movie. Romantic comedies might be harder to make than they look and it was her first acting role. Tanner Buchanan from Cobra Kai is the male lead, and he did not seem quite right for it. I hear good things about the new Candyman. The wrist thing I have heard is it might be trying to do too much in under 2 hours. I might re-watch the original next week. The next animated DC movie is Injustice and it features an evil Superman (or Superman turning evil). I feel like I have seen a lot of stories recently about an evil Superman or Superman type.  Maybe I can skip this movie. It would be the first I have skipped in a while. Still not ready to go to theaters.
