I watched some Hallmark channel movies

I might have corny taste. I don’t try hard to deny it.  (A friend and former coworker would say I have corny taste and sometimes terrible taste.) I have watched a few Hallmark channel movies lately and I have enjoyed them.  Maybe I wanted a break from direct to video action movies or maybe I like romcoms but don’t like some of the modern romcoms.

We will see if I continue to watch Hallmark movies in January or take a break for the NFL playoffs. If you, assuming someone reads this, feel like you would never watch a Hallmark movie that is okay.

There might not be a Star Trek 4

The fourth film of the rebooted Star Trek series is not  on Paramount’s schedule. The director has left the project. That is disappointing. I would like to see that cast back together.  Overall, I liked the rebooted Star Trek movies Okay maybe the second movie is pretty much a remake of Wrath of Khan. There were a few moments in the second movie that were felt odd. I thought the third movie was a bit better. I thought the third movie did a better job of using the bridge crew.  Would it be nice to have more movies with this cast (Chris Pine, Karl Urban, John Cho, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, and Zachary Quinto)? I think it would have been. It is possible that what is left of this cast is not returning for a fourth film.

I lost interest in the Girl in the Spider’s Web

I am not saying this is a terrible movie. I just lost interest and I think I had 40 or maybe 50 minutes left to watch. I might try it to watch it again in a month or so. Or I might not. Claire Foy plays Lisabeth Salandar, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in this movie. She is the third actress to take the role and she is good in it. The problems with the film don’t include her. This movie bombed but it doesn’t seem like it hurt Foy’s career. I am not sure why I lost interest. I thought there was a car chase that went on too long. I’ve seen a lot of car chases over the years but it feels like I have not seen a really good one in a while. This feels like it wants to be a female James Bond or female Jason Bourne movie. It is fairly humorless. Except for Foy’s performance, there is not much to recommend this film. I am not recommending this movie. If I re-watch it and revise my opinion, I will write a new blog posting,

Early May 2022 thoughts

It might be time to rewatch some direct to video 90s action again. Maybe it is partly nostalgia but I like some of those films like Bloodfist, Ring of Fire, and Rage. Maybe I am forgetting some of the bad direct to video action movies from that era. (I know I saw a few.) Steven Seagal is apparently still making films. I guess someone is buying or renting them but I haven’t watched a new Seagal movie in least twenty-five years.  I don’t think I have rewatched any movie Seagal movie in that time. I wonder if some of his early films (Above the Law, and Under Siege) hold up. I think the last film I saw with Seagal was Executive Decision, and his character was killed off early in that film.  I still have not watched the Batman. I am not sure why I haven’t.
