Tom Hardy Might be the Next James Bond and other thoughts

 Tom Hardy is going to be the new James Bond according to some sources. It is still somewhat unofficial. Good for him. Hardy will be good. I guess Daniel Craig is really done (which is okay). I was not worried about who would be the next James Bond because I have liked all the James Bonds but George Lazenby, so I figured the producers would find someone good.

I am tempted to watch some bad romantic comedies to see if they are as bad as their reputations suggest.  I was thinking of the Ugly Truth and How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days, both have bad reputations. The Ugly Truth has been called the worst romantic comedy ever. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of the romantic comedies that started critics wondering if they overrated Matthew McConaughey. If I do watch these films, I will say if they live down to their reputations. I could add Failure to Launch to this watching but maybe it might be best to go slowly.

Thunder Force was bad

I did finish Thunder Force. It is bad. I did not find many of the jokes funny and I thought some of the pop culture references seemed stale or out of date. (Maybe if I liked the film more I would not mention this.)The prologue was okay, if a little long, but a major plot point established in the prologue makes no sense.  This is Ben Falcone’s fifth film as a director. He also wrote it. I have heard he is a talented actor, maybe he should stick to that. It is kind of telling that he is not directing any project that his wife is not headlining. I thought some scenes or jokes ran long.  This is not as bad as Vacation 2015. That is not saying much though. Who’s Harry Crumb is not John Candy’s best film but I liked it

Who’s Harry Crumb stared John Candy as an inept private detective investigating a kidnapping. Of course Harry thinks he is a great detective. (That is the source of the comedy.) His father and grandfather were great detectives. He is assisted by the kidnapped girl’s sister Nicki (Shawnee Smith). They have a good chemistry. I liked John Candy but this is a trifle. I probably should not have bought it but I did. (At least it was reasonably priced.) There was a brief bit where Harry disguises himself as an Indian American (not Native American). I don’t think it was really mean-spirited but it would not go over well today. I guess this might be considered Candy’s attempt to create an inspector Clouseau type character.

The new Indiana Jones movie is too long

 The new Indiana Jones movie is too long. I liked the film but it feels long. There is a car chase that I was tempted to fast forward through. I might not like car chases that much. I feel like the last few car chases I have seen have been too long.  There is a long prologue to start the film. It has a digitally de-aged Harrison Ford, I guess it looked okay or at least better than some uses of the technology. (I wonder if there was old footage of a younger Harrison Ford included somehow.) It was nice to see John Rhys-Davies again. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was good as Indiana's goddaughter. (The prologue introduces her father.) I guess the movie is better than I expected. I am okay if this is the last Indiana Jones movie.  https://www.reelviews.net/reelviews/indiana-jones-and-the-dial-of-destiny  I feel that review is fair. I have seen worse movies and will in the future but maybe this series should have ended already.
