Early reviews of Superintelligence are not good

https://www.slashfilm.com/superintelligence-review/ I have not seen the movie. I am not sure if I will but the headline of this review says “Maybe Melissa McCarthy should stop letting Ben Falcone direct her movies”, which I kind of said in a previous article.  Another critic said in his review that the movies that Falcone directs are the least interesting movies she makes.  I don’t know either Melissa McCarthy or Ben Falcone. I am am amateur film commentator, I don’t go to ndustry events or press screenings. This is not personal. It is not like Ben Falcone called me a failed screenwriter after a critical review and I resent him, and now I cannot be fair towards his work. That would be more interesting to be honest. I guess I am unsure why Melissa McCarthy seems okay with not making the most of her stardom. Is whatever level of trust or comfort in working with Falcone while making these movies really worth the results? She must think it is. I hear Falcone is a good actor. Maybe it is

Freddy vs Jason is a movie that I like more than I should

Freddy vs Jason was fun. I like it more than I should. I think I have seen it at least six times. I will probably watch it again sometime next year. In this one Freddy Krugger is forgotten. Since he is forgotten, people are not afraid of him and he cannot kill people. He gets Jason Voorhees to kill and spread fear. However once Jason starts killing, he doesn't either want to stop or know how to stop. The fights between Jason and Freddy are fun. I did like Freddy get frustrated and yelling "why won't you die?" I also liked the rave in the cornfield where someone sets Jason on fire and Jason just keeps killing people.  The musical score was good and I liked some of the songs on the soundtrack. I might still have the CD of the score.  It would have been nice if Kane Hodder had played Jason. He had played Jason in more films than anyone else. Why he did not play Jason remains a bit of a mystery.

the Broken Hearts Gallery is good

The Broken Hearts Gallery is good. It is a romantic comedy set in New York. A woman named Lucy wants to run an art gallery. She has a habit of keeping items to reminder her of previous relationships. One night, after losing her job and a break up, she gets in a car thinking it is her Uber and meets Nick. Nick does drive her home and they talk a little.   Nick and Lucy meet again later. Nick shows Lucy the hotel that he is trying to open. Lucy creates a broken heart gallery in the hotel after Nick advises her to let go a little. (I might be skipping a detail here or there.) This is a place for people to leave things that they kept from past relationships and with some advertising on social media, people start to donate things to the gallery.  Nick and Lucy start to bond as the gallery gets more notice and as work on the hotel continues. Nick is hiding something. I guess all romantic comedies need a crisis or near crisis for the new couple.  I liked the cast and I thought Lucy's room

I think Melissa McMarthy is not taking advantage of her talent

To say someone is wasting his or her talent is a harsh thing to say. However I think Melissa McCarthy is not taking full advantage of her talent. The movies she makes with her husband Ben Falcone directing aren't dreck but in most cases they are worse than her movies directed by other people. Her movie the Happy Time Murders might be dreck and it is not directed by her husband. It might be the exception that proves the rule.  I guess there is a comfort level or level of trust in working with your husband. There might be a reason why he is not getting hired to direct movies or co-write movies without you in a starring role.  Maybe it is just me but I would give up some level of comfort or trust to work with other directors and maybe get better results.  Maybe she is happy with the movie she makes with Falcon. Maybe she sees progress being made with each film and thinks the experience of making movies with Falcone directing is very good. I remember hearing Life of the Party was a st

Johnny Depp is leaving the Fantastic Beasts franchise

Warner Brothers has asked Johnny Depp to leave the Fantastic Beasts franchise. He agreed. This has been an odd year but this is odd even for this year. I don’t remember a star being asked to leave a movie franchise ever. Maybe I am forgetting something but this is strange. Depp recently lost a libel case in the British courts and his reputation has fallen since domestic abuse allegations against him came out. I had heard that the British libel cases were easier to win than American libel cases, so I am surprised he lost. I don’t think his reputation is what it was even five or six years ago. Websites have reported that Johnny Depp will still get paid for the film.  I am not sure what to think abou that. Now if J.K. Rowling could go a few months without insulting groups of people on Twitter, that would be nice for the franchise. She probably cannot.

Rage was fun

Gary Daniels stars as a teacher in Rage. One day he is captured by cops and given a strange chemical injection. He defends himself and the police and maybe the CIA or military intelligence try to bring him in or kill him. Daniels is really likeable in this and this might be my favorite movie with him in it. He is caught up in a situation he does not understand and he's on the run. The action scenes are really good and the only disappointment is there not a special henchmen for Daniels to fight. The number of fights makes up for no one fight being special, I guess.  There is a reporter and his camera person trying to figure out what is going on. I liked the actor playing the reporter.  I liked it when the station manager said "Harry if I fired every person who did not want to work with you, this station couldn't function" or words to that effect.  How can you not like the video store with all PM entertainment titles? PM entertainment was the company behind this movie.
