Freaky was decent and other movie thoughts

Freaky was decent. Maybe I expected too much but I thought it would be better. I think Happy Death Day was a little better than Freaky but maybe Freaky is as good as Happy Death Day 2U. Maybe I will have more thoughts on Freaky later in the year if I re-watch it.  March 18 is the day the Snyder cut of Justice League streams on HBOMax. I probably won't watch it but I will check the reviews.  Melissa McCarthy's next movie, Thunder Force, is another comedy directed by her husband Ben Falcon. Octavia Spencer is co-starring and she almost always makes a movie worth seeing (if she has made a bad movie I don't remember it). If this movie, Thunder Force turns out bad, that kind of proves that Falcone should not direct.  It would be nice if the Spider, the old pulp hero, got a movie. I think it could work and the character could be updated to the modern day. (He has been in comics.)

Return of the Musketeers was good and other movie thoughts

Return of the Musketeers was decent. This is a sequel to the Four Musketeers set 20 years later and it has Michael York, Oliver Reed, and Kim Cattrall. I am not saying it is the equal of the Three Musketeers or the Four Musketeers, but Return is worth seeing if you liked the originals. If you haven't seen the classics from the 1970s, they are worth seeing.  I am tired of announcements of films being pushed back until later dates. I am guess this is going to be a recurring event for a while but it is not fun. I think the new James Bond movie has been pushed back three times now. The new news on the Snyder cut is it will be a four hour movie, not four one-hour episodes. I guess I am a little interested to see what the response will be but I will probably pass on the film.

Soul was decent and other movie thoughts

The latest  Disney/Pixar film Soul was decent. It is nice to have Jamie Foxx provide the voice for the lead character. However maybe it is just because I just saw Onward recently, I liked Soul but not nearly as much as I liked Onward on re-watch. Maybe on re-watch I will like Soul a bit better and I think I might re-watch it. I finally saw Collateral. Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise are really good. Cruise plays a hitman who hires a taxi driver (Fox) to drive him to his various jobs. There are some really good scenes, especially one where Fox has to pretend to be Cruise. Foxx was really good, maybe I forgot how good an actor he can be after the Amazing Spider-man II. I liked the Invisible Man but not as much as most critics. It is not bad exactly but I am not sure that I'd ever want to see it again. A couple of times it seemed like the Invisible Man has above average strength but that could just be an impression I got. I thought Elizabeth Moss was good in the lead role as a woman who fea

First movie this year, was a re-watch of Onward

I re-watched Onward today. I guess I could have started a new year with a new movie but I was curious how well this one holds on re-watch. (The last movie watched of 2020 was 2020's Call of the Wild. It was good. I am not sure if I will write a full review.) Onward is better than I remembered. The movie gets better after the first twenty minutes or so. I like that, it is better than a movie having a strong first two acts but falling apart in the third act. Chris Pratt and Tom Holland provide voices for two elf brothers on a quest to get a magical gem to get to see their late father for one day. There are complications, of course. This is worth seeing if you have not seen it. It is probably on par with Monsters Inc or Monsters University.
